Goldberg J3 Restoration

When we moved into our house 5 years ago a previous owner had left the a wing for what I was pretty sure a J3 Cub. I hadnt yet gotten back into flying RC at the time, but thought it was an interesting relic and figured maybe someday I might make use of it. Now, 5 years later, I have been an active member of the Rogue Valley Flyers RC club for over a year, have managed to accumulate a large cache of RC aircraft...stuff, and have learned the J3 the wing comes from a very popular Carl Goldberg balsa kit. S0 recently while acquiring some other RC stuff, picked up a J3 fuselage for free. One of those 'hey do you want this, here take it' deals. At the time I wasn't even thinking about the old wing I just figured as usual, 'maybe someday I might make use of it.' So here i am trying to figure out which of the possible 5 or 6 or so projects out of all the 'stuff' cluttering up the workshop I want to do for this year's 2021/22 winter build (seriously---way too much to choose from) and it dawns on me that the fuselage might work with wing.....low and behold.

My entry for the RVF 2021/22 winter build.  The hole drilled for the wing anchor is nearly perfect. Add some blocks for the nylon bolts to thread into and Im on my way. No need to dust off. Strip and recover. Considering flaps. Who knows?  Should be fun. and the price was right (s0 far)

Phase 1 nearly complete
