TIME TO SPOUT OUT!
Quote from stevster on September 14, 2023, 6:53 pmSOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. WHAT ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT THIS CLUB THAT COULD USE SOME HELP OR MODIFYING. WHAT CHANGES DO YOU THINK, IF IMPLEMENTED, COULD MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON HELPING THIS CLUB BE VIABLE AND HELP IT GROW?
LOOK AT THIS TOPIC AS SORT OF A "SUGGESTION BOX" (MIND YOU, A POSITIVE SUGGESTION ONLY PLEASE)!

It all starts with becoming better known in the community. The club needs to build on the community outreach work done this past year with the Boys and Girls Club.
1 - Reshape the club's Board by including a Community Liaison position, and defining community outreach objectives in our charter.
2 - Establish a repertoire of flying capabilities among our pilots that could be used as part of Community Outreach and Support activities.
Examples: Towed Banners. Formation Flyovers. Aerobatic Exhibitions. Aerial Search. FPV Scenic Flights. Night Light Flights.
3 - Club Support for Part 107 pilot licensing for interested members. Doing this, will enable us to take our abilities off the airfield and into the community and execute in public, legally.
4 - Form "capability teams" in support of each example under #2 above.
Examples: Formation Flyovers - 3 or 4 RC pilots would agree to meet regularly at the airfield and develop formation flying skills/displays.
Aerobatic Demonstrations - Interested RC Pilots agree to meet regularly at the airfield and develop/choreograph aerobatic demonstrations, and practice as required.
Towed Banners - RC Pilots interested in this meet regularly at the airfield to develop and practice technique.
5 - Create and sponsor an RC Pilot Scholarship to advertise and award annually to teens and young adults.
6 - Explore partnering (there's that Community Liaison position at work again...) with the Community College to see where aerial demonstrations might contribute to various science studies, or develop early piloting education program.
AND IN A COMPLETELY SEPARATE VEIN.........
RVF needs to get its financial house organized. We need to be building on a contingency fund and define its acceptable uses. We need a budget with categories for Event Support, Pilot Development, Community Outreach, Airfield Improvements, General Airfield Maintenance. We need to find funding sources beyond membership dues that are consistent with the club's non-profit status.
